Sisters of the Holy Spirit (S.H.Sp) was founded in Koblenz Germany on 4th June 1857 by Mother Irmina Hoelscher. It extended its mission activities to India in 1973. Gradually the Congregation opened many centres in different parts of the country. We contribute to the mission of the church through various ministries like Education, Health care, Social work and Pastoral works. Gradually the Indian Province of the Congregation opened centers in different parts of the country. Later the mission activities are extended to Tanzania and United States too.

Message from Superior General

The Holy Spirit is our constant guide, gently leading us towards the fullness of life and inspiring us to discern and fulfil God’s will as we follow Jesus Christ, the model of our life and mission.

We cherish the gift of our vocation as Sisters of the Holy Spirit and are called to witness to the values of Christ through our lives and mission. At the heart of our identity lies the charism of our Congregation: “To be a living community in the Holy Spirit and to make the working of the Holy Spirit in this world tangible to people through us.” This charism invites us to be open to the Spirit’s guidance and to make His presence alive and meaningful in the world around us.

We aspire to build vibrant, Spirit-filled communities rooted in prayer, enriched by sisterly love, and strengthened by mutual understanding and unity. From this shared life, we are called to reach out to the wider society, bringing God’s love, compassion, and hope to all. Though living out this ideal may sometimes be challenging, we remain committed to our common vision and mission, embracing our cultural, linguistic, and other differences as gifts that enrich our communion and strengthen our togetherness. As bridge-builders, we are called to foster reconciliation, promote mutual respect, and nurture unity within our communities, the Church, and society. Our presence, relationships, and service should become living expressions of the Gospel and signs of the Holy Spirit at work in our world.

May our lives and mission contribute to the growth of individuals, the building up of communities, and the transformation of society, wherever we are called to serve. As we journey forward together, let each of us embrace our personal responsibility in the Church and the world, responding with faith, courage, and generosity to the needs of our time.

PROVINCIAL’S MESSAGE

Dear Sisters and Friends,

Each person in this world is a unique and irreplaceable gift of the Creator. The mystery of our existence and the distinctive identity of each life leave us to wonder and to realize the value and dignity of lives around us. This awareness invites us to embrace life with grateful hearts and to live each moment with joy, generosity, and a deep sense of responsibility.

Our vocation to religious life is a special call to recognise, cherish, and give expression to the subtle workings of the Holy Spirit in our lives and in the world. The charism of our Congregation continually reminds us of our mission to make the presence of God visible and tangible through our loving service, compassion, and care for others.

As members of this congregation, united in a common mission, we are called to uphold the dignity of every human person and to help them to discover the same in the day to day life. Each of us has a meaningful role in shaping the future of the Church and the world. Our commitment to the Lord challenges us to go the extra mile for those in need, to accompany the vulnerable with compassion, and to empower every person entrusted to our care to live the gift of life with authenticity, hope, and confidence.  We have the responsibility to make our world a more humane, just, and compassionate place for all.  May the charism of our Foundress Mother Irmina Hoelscher continue to guide our journey, the spirituality of our Patron St. Augustine renews our hearts, and the mission of Jesus inspire and challenge us.

Let us continue to journey together, allowing the love of God, poured into our hearts through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, to find expression in all that we are and all that we do.
