Sisters of the Holy Spirit (S.H.Sp) was founded in Koblenz Germany on 4th June 1857 by Mother Irmina Hoelscher. It extended its mission activities to India in 1973. Gradually the Congregation opened many centres in different parts of the country. We contribute to the mission of the church through various ministries like Education, Health care, Social work and Pastoral works. Gradually the Indian Province of the Congregation opened centers in different parts of the country. Later the mission activities are extended to Tanzania and United States too.

“The wind blows where it wills” (Jn. 3: 8)

Holy Spirit is the constant guide who leads us to a fuller life and prompts us to fulfil God’s will in following Jesus. Jesus is the model of our life and mission. We live our precious call as Sisters of the Holy Spirit, witnessing Christ’s values and realizing the charism of our congregation, “’to be a living community in the Holy Spirit and make the working of the Holy Spirit in this world tangible to the people through us”. We envision to live in a vibrant and Spirit filled community and reach out to the larger community, the society. We try to realize this very ideal, though it is not easy. In spite of the cultural, linguistic and other differences we focus on fulfilling the vison and mission together. Through our activities we extend God’s love and compassion in a genuine and tangible way. We are called to be bridge builders and work towards unity. Let the divine Spirit enable us to be living witnesses of God, building up persons, communities and the societies wherever we are through our dedicated service and exemplary life.
The current pandemic is a time of great anxiety. All have experienced loss and inconveniences. In the face of personal fears and anxieties we are called to act responsibly and care for others more affected than us. Let us all realise our individual responsibility in the world and the church and thus become “Sowers of Prophetic Hope” of our time.

“Love of God is poured out in to our hearts by the Spirit of God” (Rom.5:5)

Blessed with the name “Sisters of the Holy Spirit” we are always reminded of our Charism to be a living community in the Holy Spirit and to make the working of the Holy Spirit tangible to the people through us. It is the very awareness that Love is poured in to our hearts by the Holy Spirit that enables us to claim our very identity as the children of God and to let that divine love flow out of us making everyone else feel that they too are the children of God. We are temples of the Holy Spirit (1cor.6:19) and so called to be an embodiment of love/ personification of love.“Love must be active”, says St. Augustine. Love through the acts of mercy and compassion brings union, healing and wholeness, where there is division and confusion. As sisters of the Holy Spirit let us be instruments of love, joy, peace and unity in our broken and wounded world.
